REK Celebrates Music
2 March 2017 The Roundup
Super cool post from Robert Earl Keen!
“Today we celebrated ‘What Does Music Look Like’ art contest with the students in Kerrville ISD schools, B.T. Wilson 6th Grade School, Hal Peterson Middle School and Tivy High School with pizza parties and awards at each campus! Each year REK sponsors an art contest in conjunction with the Hill Country Youth Orchestras concert in which all the proceeds from the concert go directly to the Endowment and Scholarship Fund of the Orchestras. REK is very passionate about the importance of art (music and visual) in the public school systems. This is the 7th year for the art contest and his 10th year performing the concert and this year we are honored to have our very special guest, LeeAnn Womack join us in the celebration of Hill Country Youth Orchestras 30th Anniversary! Special thanks to the art teachers and principals at each campus!”
