It’s Friday and you know what that means? New music!! Here are some great new releases from a few of our favorite artists:
Shinyribs I Got Your Medicine Shinyribs are back with their special brand of country-soul, swamp-funk. Beaumont native and Gourds front man Kevin Russell is a master at balancing tongue-in-cheek with heart ’n’ soul. Varied inspirations provide varied sounds here from gospel groove, honky tonk-meets-Chuck Berry to a New Orleans style R&B vibe. Buy the album here. Gruene Hall hosts an album release party starting tonight at 9:30. Tickets here.
Aaron Watson Vaquero Aaron wrote all 16 songs on this follow-up to 2015’s The Underdog. He says of the album, “It’s what a I believe in… my country, country music, small towns, hard work, honesty, family and Jesus. I poured all those things into the new album.” Buy Vaquero and Vaquero gear here.
Old 97’s Graveyard Whistling With over 20 years and 10 albums to their name, Texas alt-country stalwarts Old 97’s are excited to be releasing their 11th LP. The band still has all four original members, and recorded this album in the same Tornillo, Texas studio as their major label debut back in 1996. Lead singer Rhett Miller says, ““It was a beautiful feeling of completing a circle—we’re the same people, but we had grown so much as band mates and friends.” Get the album here.
