Steve Judice, singer/songwriter and RFT fan favorite, drop us a note with his thoughts on Michael O’Neal’s latest album, “Family Business”. Here’s what’s on Steve’s mind.
Saturday, November 1st marked the official release of Michael O’Neal’s 4th album, “Family Business.”
This album presents O’Neal’s finest work to date. It is a concept album of sorts that provides glimpses into the mind, spirit and heart of a fine and gentle man.
Songwriting is often an exercise in self-expression, but it is rare to find an artist willing to allow others so intimate a view. “Family Business” invites listeners to share in loves, losses and memories felt deeply by a man who allows his heart to be indelibly marked by life’s joys, sorrows, twists and turns.
With arrangements as simple and beautiful as the stories they complement, O’Neal renders a 12-track jewel that reflects uncommon attention to detail and a tone as evocative as a funeral in winter.
Listening to the tales told, one is left to wonder how a writer might muster the courage to share private feelings so intimately. My guess is that Michael O’Neal understands well, the child he was and the man that he has become, and he is comfortable with both.
This CD has been selected as the Radio Free Texas All Access Album of the month for November. Register as an All Access member at Radiofreetexas.com, and receive a copy of this gem. It will also be available soon on ITunes and Amazon.com.
